Step 3: Click on the folder SchiitUSB-Gen3106 to open it. Step 2: Go to your Downloads folder (or Desktop, or wherever you had Windows put the drivers) and double-click on the SchiitUSB-Gen3106.zip archive to expand it. But I didn't buy a cable to connect the stack to my PC. I did buy the PSYT RCA cable to connect the Amp to the Dac. I'm pretty sure I forgot to purchase an additional cable. I can't speak on the sound of the Stack but I can say that if the Asgard is anything even remotely close to their other products down the line, I'm sure they sound great and you always hear how the entire company makes equipment that's quality (both build and sound wise) outperform their market price and compete with other equipment leagues more expensive.īut all-in-all that's my opinion on my setup. Step 1: Remove any current Schiit USB drivers before proceeding further. 1 Hey guys, So I just received my Schiit stack (Modi 2 Uber and Magni 2 uber). I considered Schiit Stack for the longest time but I figured why not futureproof myself for years by giving some extra power under the hood. But still they sound great and I think are a great compliment to really anything you use with them (within reason). In fact a comfortable listening volume on those is only 9-10 o'clock on the dial. Although I think going Asgard 2 was a little overkill with the TH-X00s given their low impedance my iPhone could likely power them sufficiently. So far I've got a small collection with only some Fostex TH-X00s and some Audio-Technica ATH-ANC9s which were my first foyer headphones into the realm of $100+ for a pair. Another thing to try is plug into a USB 2.0 port, if available. If you have a USB hub, try connecting the Modi through that. Second update when booting up, if dac is connected computer freezes on boot screen and must be forced off. I'm also happy that I spent less on amplification and reproduction than I did on my headphones themselves. Update: The Schiit stack works when plugged into my Note 9. True the only thing I have it to compare it to is my PC onboard audio in which case it's leaps and bounds better but I feel like I got my moneys worth. I decided to go the more expensive way (budget-wise) and get an Asgard 2 with a modi 2 uber. Wasn't sure whether to go cheap and get the Fulla, go more moderate and get the Modi x Magni stack, or go overboard and get a Asgard/Valhalla/Lyr w/ Modi Uber/Multibit/Bifrost. I did a lot of considering when I started into the schiit products world. The update itself (which may or may not be the underlying cause) looks to have actually failed, as seen in Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Advanced Options > View Your Update History: 'Intel - Other hardware - Intel (R) 8 Series/C220 Series SMBus Controller - 8C22.
