![]() ![]() With a dual setup, you have a dedicated PC just for streaming, which prevents the stream from taking up valuable resources and purring more strain on your component, resulting in better game quality and fewer lags. Perhaps the main reason why you would benefit from a dual setup is the distribution of workload between the two PCs. While we don’t recommend a dual setup if you’re just starting out, if you are sure that streaming is the way forward, then a dual streaming setup is the more ideal solution in the long run. But there’s a reason why many professional streamers are using one PC for gaming and another PC just for the purpose of streaming. When it comes to PC, it is true that you might not need a video capture card, at least for the same reasons that were mentioned above. These are options that you just often won’t have in the streaming app on your console. For that, you would need your gaming footage to be sent to a PC via a video capture card so that you can customize your stream, reply to chat, set up and customize a webcam, add a higher quality microphone, and a lot more to improve the quality of your stream. If you want to stream professionally, a certain level of quality, care, and character is expected. ![]() And that’s about as much control as you have over your stream. You can stream the gameplay, add some commentary and perhaps do the occasional typing if you have the keyboard accessory for your respective controller. The biggest caveat with streaming directly from a console is the lack of control. With Xbox and PlayStation, you can stream directly from the console, whereas on the Nintendo Switch, you need the console to be connected to the dock to be able to stream. First of all, let’s separate console and PC gaming in addressing this issue. This data is then encoded by the computer and turned into a video file that can be saved or streamed in real-time with almost zero latency. This data can be sent either via a USB connection in the case of external capture cards or through a PCI-E connection for internal capture cards. So far, a video capture card seems redundant! But the unique thing that a capture card does is that it converts the video it receives to a format that a PC can read. Simply put, a video capture card is a device that receives video from one source via HDMI (typically a gaming console or PC) and sends the same video out to a monitor or TV (also via HDMI). We will explain why you probably need a capture card despite your device being already capable of streaming. If you’re a gamer or streamer who has been wondering what a capture card can do for you or why you would purchase one if your Xbox/PlayStation/PC has the ability to stream on its own, keep reading this article. ![]()

This is for Windows 7 (in corporate environment): When the event is received, the local computer will terminate the script when the event is delivered. There is a WMI Win32_ComputerShutdownEvent event, which occurs when a computer gets shutdown via a remote command. Again, this will only work if you initiated the shutdown locally. Since you have unsaved data in Notepad, Windows will wait and ask if you want to continue the shutdown, giving you the opportunity to cancel. You don't even need a script for this, you could just open notepad and type in some text. This will prevent the machine from shutting down, but it won't prevent other apps and possibly services from being terminated. The script/app could then catch the shutdown even and ask you if you want to quit the script/app, in which you can then cancel. However, there doesn't seem to be any way to cancel the shutdown, unless the shutdown was initiated from the local machine and user. While there are only a few 17th-century structures still standing (these include the Wilbor house and Peabody house), there are many which date from the 18th and 19th century. Land for the common was designated in August of 1677 and has been used ever since as both a religious and civic center for social activities in the town. This is most likely a result of the town having been originally laid out by settlers from the Plymouth and Massachusetts Colonies. Rhode Island’s only town common is located in Little Compton. The stones in the cemetery reflect a style of carving similar to that found both in Newport and in Boston during the same time period. Because Little Compton was once part of the Plymouth colony, all probate and land records prior to 1746 can be found in Taunton and New Bedford. By 1747, Little Compton secured its own royal decree and was annexed to Newport County as a part of Rhode Island along with Tiverton and Bristol. However, there is no direct evidence to substantiate this relationship. This is possibly a reference to LittleĬompton in Warwickshire, England. In 1682, the town was incorporated by the Plymouth Colony and renamed Little Compton. Today, a plaque on the side of West Main Road gives the location of his original homestead. In 1675, Church built his homestead in Little Compton, just prior to King Philip’s War. Church was well known for his role in the late 17th-century conflicts with surrounding Native American tribes, notably the Narragansetts and Wampanoags. Of these 32 original proprietors was Colonel Benjamin Church. In a series of lotteries beginning in 1674 and ending in the early 1680s, they divided the land in Little Compton into lots of standardized acreage and began settling there. I have personally spent a ton of time trying to figure out a better solution in my predominantly Avid Media Composer-based workflow and found that creating new master QuickTimes at the final output spec - Avid DNxHD for my world - would help speed up the preparation for online editing by embracing the fast-import feature inside of Media Composer. “Why would a file take longer than tape?” was a common inquiry. A lot of supervisors and editors who had no clue how long it took to get footage into the system properly would get upset and frustrated at the prospect of QuickTimes taking longer than real time to import, a constant battle. It caused assistants to go from digitizing tape and importing a few QuickTimes to importing hundreds of hours of QuickTimes. Subsequently this also turned the assistant editor world upside down. Once the GoPro camera came along, the file-based camera workflow really kicked into high gear. While XDCAM had its kinks at first, it’s a pretty proven method these days, at least in reality television production where I work. Sony has a solid solution using file-based and tape-based media with the XDCAM format: simultaneously writing low-resolution proxy files and high-resolution files for mastering. I have also seen the many different workflows people have used to get footage into a system, and most of the time it’s either wrong or overly complicated. In those various roles, I have seen tons of tape and file formats come and go over the years. Prior to that I spent four years as a post production coordinator/post supervisor.
